Airport Operations Unaffected
The airport remains open as usual. Only the terminal building will be closed.
Belairus self-serve aviation fuel will operate as usual.
Tenants will be displaced.
Flooded!

Monday February 2, 2026, tenants arrived to discover the upper level was completely flooded. And, since water runs downhill, there was also water downstairs.
The following Wednesday, the Airport Advisory Committee arrived for a scheduled meeting. An evening meeting was impossible with industrial floor-drying fans everywhere. The meeting reconvened at Town Hall.
The Culprit!

Not bad for its age.
This venerable water cooler succumbed to internal corrosion, likely exacerbated by past years of terrible town water.
Unnoticed over the weekend, it drip, drip, dripped until the main floor was completely soaked. Water pooled in low spots.
Flooring pulled up to dry the underlay. Baseboards removed to dry the walls.

Flooring must be replaced. Walls have water damage. Downstairs ceilngs, too.
Asbestos!
Because of the age of the building (opened in 1976), wallboard, insulation, and ceiling tiles are suspected to contain asbestos.
The damage is covered by insurance.
Working “by the book”, specialized insurance renovations consultants have been engaged to repair the damage.
Remediation is expected to be completed by the second week in March, 2026.
